Road to Growth in Kenya
Our seven-week intensive Road to Growth programme has run in Kenya since Autumn 2021 with the support of our partners.
With the support of our partners, DHL Express and Smart Regional Consultants (SRC), our Road to Growth programme has been running in Kenya since late 2021, supporting women to grow and strengthen their businesses.
It is estimated that sub-Saharan African economies lose $100 billion every year because of the labour market gender gap. While the Kenyan economy is growing, structural and social barriers hold women back from fully participating in and benefitting from this growth. Kenyan women make up just 31.4% of the country’s formal business ownership and often lack access to business development services that could support them to thrive.
Road to Growth is one of the Foundation’s six flagship programmes. Our intensive seven-week business management programme equips women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries with business skills, financial literacy, networks and confidence so they can achieve business growth. The programme also presents the women who participate with networking opportunities within the group, which serves as a highly successful professional and personal support system.
Following the programme’s success in Nairobi, we are now laying plans to expand into new areas and reach more Kenyan women than ever before.
So far, over 450 Kenyan women entrepreneurs have participated in the programme, which has seen incredible impacts.
In 2023...
86% increased their network.
72% improved business confidence.
69% improved business knowledge.
Following the programme’s success in Nairobi, where it has been delivered since 2021, we are now laying plans to expand into new areas and reach more Kenyan women than ever before.
