Statement on Huriya Private Foundation

The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women's statement on Huriya Private Foundation.

The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women (the Foundation) is a UK registered charity.  The Foundation received funding across 2021 and 2022 from Huriya Private.  The partnership with the philanthropic arm of Huriya Private was to support the Foundation’s Mentoring Women in Business Scholarship Fund.

The Scholarship Fund has supported 50 women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries to build successful enterprises. Mentoring enables women to increase their business skills, knowledge and confidence to build more successful organisations. Mrs Katerina Pawlowska-Hanafin participated as a voluntary mentor for our Mentoring Business in Women Programme in 2017/18 and 2019/20.

The last contribution received from Huriya Private was in 2022, prior to Mr Hanafin being placed on the US Department of the Treasury’s sanctions list in May 2023.  The Foundation will not be seeking or accepting any further funds from Huriya Private. The Foundation remains committed to comply at all times with applicable sanctions regimes.
