Pressing for Change

With women entrepreneurs, we’re influencing change to close the gender gap in entrepreneurship.

The voices of women entrepreneurs

We listen to women entrepreneurs. We do research and gather insights from our programmes in low and middle income countries. And we share our evidence to inform global and national policy making processes.

Our research includes thematic policy reports focusing on key issues for women entrepreneurs, most recently digital inclusion, unpaid care work and gender stereotypes.

Our annual audit of women entrepreneurs’ experiences provides an invaluable state of sector analysis on the key challenges, motivations and recommendations from women entrepreneurs in low and middle income countries.

Making change happen

We work with global stakeholders on specific advocacy projects to undertake research and analysis, to share recommendations and to press for change from decision-makers and business leaders so women entrepreneurs are not held back.

Speaking out

We amplify women entrepreneurs’ voices globally, through sharing our evidence and their stories and solutions, and by advocating for policy and practice changes that will make the most difference to their businesses and lives.

For example, we network, comment on, and speak at relevant global and regional events to ensure that positive change, investment and support for women entrepreneurs are on the agenda. Read our calls to UNGA member states to support women’s entrepreneurship and progress the SDGs.

We also advocated for women entrepreneurs at the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women, focusing on tackling gender stereotypes. Read of calls for change here (from page 40 of the report).
