The 100,000 Women Campaign Launches!

“We want to show the world that women mean business. We want to empower women to boost the global economy, and to redefine the future for themselves, their families, their communities, and the world. We hope that you will join us.”

– Cherie Blair, Founder, Cherie Blair Foundation for Women

We’re thrilled to launch our ambitious and vital 100,000 Women Campaign today!

Our vision is a world where women and men enjoy economic equality. Through this Campaign, we are aiming to raise £10 million over the next three years. Our goal is to empower over 100,000 more women through our programmes, technology, and a strengthened global entrepreneurship ecosystem. Our target is an ambitious one, but wholly achievable with the support, influence and donations of companies and individuals like yourselves.

We help release the potential of women entrepreneurs so they can redefine the future, and since our creation in 2008, we have directly supported over 160,000 women over more than 100 lower and middle income countries. But now we now have our sights set on even bigger ambitions… We hope to build on our successes and aim to reach another 100,000 women over the next three years!

With our support, women in lower and middle income countries start and grow successful businesses, and reclaim the rights and freedoms they are too often denied. As a result, they earn a better living – but that’s only the beginning. Women’s economic equality is a smart, sustainable investment with long-term returns for us all. It changes the health and education outcomes for children, creates safer, more prosperous societies, and with diversity we see greater innovation and creativity.

As one of the key organisations successfully working internationally towards achieving economic gender parity, we proudly work to support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. We enable women entrepreneurs through enhancing access to skills, networks, markets and finance to help to break down some of the barriers that women in business face today. You can read more about some of our tailored programmes here, including mobile technology, blended learning programmes, mentoring, face-to-face business incubation, and network development.

“I lost my hand operating a noodle making machine in my grocery store several years ago. But the workshops provided me with the right level of support. They gave me the skills and confidence I needed to take my aspirations forward by myself.”

However, our work doesn’t just stop there. Our amazing new campaign will also carry out significant research and advocacy work.

We’re obviously so excited to tell you about all our new campaign, but we’d love for you to hear about it from one of our newest campaign supporters:

“I’m thrilled that the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women has announced the ambitious goal of reaching 100,000 more women entrepreneurs in low- and middle-income countries. Each and every one of us has a role to play in making that happen. Empowering women is one of the smartest investments we can make. That’s why I am delighted to support such a timely and vital campaign, and why I want to invite you to join me.” – Hillary Rodham Clinton

To achieve our important goals, our campaign will need to increase the scale, breadth and impact of our work. To do this, our campaign will raise £10 million by 2022 from individuals, companies and institutions who share our vision of a world where women and men have equal access to entrepreneurship.
